POWR (People of West Ridge) NFP, a nonprofit community organization created to improve the quality of life in West Ridge, celebrated its second anniversary in April 2017.

POWR is not a membership organization, but a community resource that provides support to individuals and community groups doing the hard work of community-building and economic development.

POWR has two main objectives:

  • To make participatory budgeting a reality in our Ward
  • To work for inclusive economic development on California, Devon, Lincoln, Peterson, Touhy, and Western Avenues

In 2017, through its work as the community partner for the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s Biennial “Between States” project, POWR established the 50th Ward’s HOPE Committee on economic development. The HOPE Committee is open to all residents, students, and business owners.  Please review the committee’s pages on this site and contact us if you’d like to contribute your time and talents to economic development and job creation in West Ridge.

Working together, we can make a difference for all who call this community home.
